Every Home Should Have a Roly Poly Chime Ball
The classic turquoise Roly Poly Chime Ball with rocking swans and horses is a great addition to any home. The attractive styling makes it acceptable for use by adults as well as babies. The gentle, musical chimes of this product are pleasant and soothing, and can be used by people who wish to sit in stillness and relax by allowing them to focus on the tones produced when gently tipping the ball. Since this product was originally designed to be used by babies and toddlers, it has many features which parents may also find attractive, such as no chocking hazards, no batteries, waterproof, break-resistant plastic hemispheres.
Although the Roly Poly Chime Ball is more durable than most modern mass-produced toys, it is possible that one or more of the chimes inside may become dislodged after years of use. I recommend that potential customers ask the seller about the musical qualities prior to making a purchase. The clear plastic upper hemisphere can become yellowed and scratched over time, but that does not affect the sound quality.
It is not possible to open a Roly Poly Chime Ball without causing permanent damage, so fixing broken chimes is not an option. If you are curious about the mystery of its beautiful music, I feel that most likely the chimes are made of metal rods affixed in a circle which produce tones when struck by a pendulum.
