Only Fools and Horses - The Complete Series 6 DVD 2003
5 of 5 found this helpful Only Fools and Horses is the much loved British Sitcom about the two Trotter brothers and their wheeling and dealing antics. Derrick 'Del Boy' Trotter dreams of being a millionaire and embarks on endless money making schemes which inevitably backfirst, whilst dragging his dopey brother Rodney 'Rodders' Trotter along with him. Along the way the audience is introduced to a variety of characters including their miserable Grandad, car dealer Aubrie 'Boycie' Boyce, and Trigger the street sweeper.
Only Fools and Horses is one of my favourite sitcoms. This series has some great episodes and is one of my favourites. It sees the arrival of Cassandra as Rodney's new girlfriend, Del's bar prob incident, and Rodney getting married. Plus the episodes are extended from 30 to 50 minutes. Below I will do a mini-review (with the ratings out of 5*s) of each episode and then give the DVD an over all rating.
YUPPY LOVE - Rating *****
8os fever us spreading and Del fancies himself as a Yuppie. Meanwhile Rodney has been attending night classes and manages to pull the classy Cassandra. This is one of my favourite moments and the best moment has to be the famous bar prop scene.
DANGER UXD - Rating *****
Another excellent episode which sees Del take posession of 50 sex dolls for absolutely nothing. This episode is very funny and the best moment has to be the exploding dolls at the end.
CHAIN GANG - Rating *****
Del's been spending time down at the casino and strikes up a deal with Arnie (a retired jeweller) to buy 250 18-Carat Gold Chains. Just as the deal is about to go through Arnie is taken ill and he is taken away in an ambulance with the gold chains still handcuffed to his arm. This is another of my favourite episodes with a great story and the best moment has to be Boycie pretending to be a doctor and then subsequently Del pretending to be a policeman.
THE UNLUCKY WINNER IS - Rating *****
Rodney has won a holiday for three in the Mediterranean courtesy of mega-flakes. The thing is he didn't even enter the competitiion and Del's been suspiciously interested in his drawings from when he was fourteen years old. This is again another one of my favourite episodes with the best bit being Rodney having to pretend that he is fourteen years old.
SICKNESS AND WEALTH - Rating ****
Del's suffering excruciating stomach pains and cramps. Most people would go see a doctor but not Del. He's suffering from PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). Quite a good episode but doesn't measure up to the rest of the episodes in this series.
LITTLE PROBLEMS - Rating *****
With his new job and impending marriage Rodney's on the up. However, Del's got himself in a little bit of bother with some hooky mobile phones and the Driscoll Brothers. This is a great episode and one of my favourites. The best moments are the scenes involving the Driscoll brothers which are hilarious.
Overall, the episodes in this series are very funny. In my opinion it is one of Only Fools and Horses stronger series' and the introduction of fifty minute episodes makes it even better. However, the DVD transfer could have been better (the episodes look the same as when they weere originally aired) and it has no extra features which is why I rated it four stars instead of five.

Only Fools and Horses - The Complete Series 2 DVD 2001
5 of 5 found this helpful Only Fools and Horses is the much loved British Sitcom about the two Trotter brothers and their wheeling and dealing antics. Derrick 'Del Boy' Trotter dreams of being a millionaire and embarks on endless money making schemes which inevitably backfirst, whilst dragging his dopey brother Rodney 'Rodders' Trotter along with him.
Only Fools and Horses is one of my favourite sitcoms. This series contains some of my favourite episodes of all time. Below I will do a mini-review (with the ratings out of 5*s) of each episode and then give the DVD an over all rating.
THE LONG LEGS OF THE LAW - Rating ****
Rodney begins dating a policewoman. If that itself isn't bad enough for Del Boy, the dipstick only goes and brings her back to the flat after their first date. The best moment has to be Del trying to claim back the stolen watch which dopey Rodney has given to his new girlfriend as a present.
ASHES TO ASHES - Rating *****
Del's new money making scam is to sell Trigger's gran's genuine antique urns. Problem is one of them is the resting place of Trig's grandad Arthur. What follows is a hilarious episode as Del and Rodney try to dispose of the ashes. This is one of my favourite episodes and there's too many great moments to pick just one.
A LOSING STREAK - Rating *****
Del and Boycie are set to play the biggest poker game Peckham's ever seen. Problem is Del is down to his last few pounds and has been consistently losing to Boycie. Del's convinced convinced that his luck's gonna change and he'll soon be out of this "losing streak." Again this is one of my favourite episodes involving a great build up to an ending which provides both tension and laughs in equal measures.
NO GREATER LOVE - Rating ****
In this episode Rodney gets himself a bird. Problem is she's forty and her jailbird husband Tommy McKay is due to be released. The best moment has to be Grandad's rea to Rodney's girlfriend's age: "Forty!! Even I'd have to think twice!" is priceless.
THE YELLOW PERIL - Rating *****
Del's got a job painting a chinese restaurant. Or should that be Rodney and Grandad have a job painting a chinese restaurant? This is again one of my favourite episodes. The best moment has to be Del's discovery about the paint that he uses to decorate the chinese restaurant.
IT NEVER RAINS - Rating ****
Del manages to blag a cheap holiday for the family in Spain. It's all going great until Grandad gets into a bit of trouble with the Spanish police. My favourite moment has to be Grandad's explanation of how he got onto Spain's "Most Wanted" list.
A TOUCH OF GLASS - Rating *****
Del and Rodney give a lady who's car has broken down a tow home. It turns out that she's a lady of the manor and Del sees this as an opportunity for Trotter's Chandelier Cleaning Service to go into business. What follows is an entertaining build up to one of the best Only Fools and Horses moments ever. One of my favourite episodes.
DIAMONDS ARE FOR HEATHER - Rating **
It's Christmas in Peckham and Del's fallen hook, line, and sinker for Heather. Probably my least favourite episode of Only Fools and Horses. The jokes are few and far between and the whole episode is quite depressing.
Overall, this series is very funny and contains some of my favourite episodes. It misses out on 5 stars due to weak Diamonds are for Heather, an average DVD transfer (the episodes look like they did when they were aired on TV), and no Extra Features.

Only Fools and Horses - The Complete Series 1 DVD 2000
10 of 11 found this helpful Only Fools and Horses is the much loved British Sitcom about the two Trotter brothers and their wheeling and dealing antics. Along the way the audience is introduced to a variety of characters including their miserable Grandad, car dealer Aubrie 'Boycie' Boyce, and Trigger the street sweeper.
Only Fools and Horses is one of my favourite sitcoms and whilst this first series is by no means my favourite it is still very entertaining and well worth a buy. Below I will do a mini-review (with the ratings out of 5*s) of each episode and then give the DVD an over all rating.
BIG BROTHER - Rating ****
Good start to the series. We're introduced to Del, Rodney, Trigger, and Grandad. This epdsode sees Del trying to flog suitcases with the code locked inside the case whilst Rodney contemplates leaving Troters Independent Traders and getting a 'real job.' Best moment has to be the introduction to Trigger. Hilarious.
GO WEST YOUNG MAN - Rating *****
This episode sees Del Boy selling one of Boycie's "death trap" cars to an unsuspecting customer, and Del and Rodney embarking on a night around town. Best moment has to be the hilarious ending.
CASH AND CURRY - Rating *****
In this episode Del gets a new contact in Malik. Del also encounters Malik's rival, Mr Rahm. Del learns that Malik has a porcelain statue which bears huge symbolic value to Rahm. Rahm is prepared to pay ₤4000 for the statue but cannot communicate with Malik. Step in Del Boy, who offers to act as a middle man, telling Malik that Rahm will offer him ₤2000 for the statue. Best moment has to be the twist at the end.
THE SECOND TIME AROUND - Rating ****
Del meets up with an old flame Pauline and rekindles the passion. However, Grandad, Rodney, and others aren't too pleased about Del's new romance, especially when they find out she has been widowed TWICE. Best moment has to be Del's "I'm coming with ya" quote.
A SLOW BUS TO CHINGFORD - Rating *****
Del's latest money making scam is Trotter's Ethnic Tours. He's got the tour bus, printed the fliers, and got Grandad to distribute them. Rodney's the driver and also the "Trotter Watch" night watchman for the local bus yard (so that Del can get the bus for his Ethnic Tours). Best moment has to be the Trotters Independent Traders "TIT" quote by Rodney.
THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING - Rating ****
Del's got some lead on the cheap but Rodney discovers that it's part of a DIY bomb shelter. With the threat of the Cold War at its full extent Rodney convinces Del to build the bomb shelter. The best moment has to be Del, Rodney, and Grandad getting stopped for speeding when trying to get to the bomb sheleter in under four minutes.
CHRISTMAS CRACKERS - Rating ****
It's Christmas and Grandad's cooking dinner which means anthracite potatoes and a turkey complete with a melted plastic bag of giblets inside. After dinner Rodney's bored and convinces Del to come with him to the Monte Carlo club. Best moment has to be Del Boy seats at the end.
Overall, the episodes are hilarious (and it gets even better in the later series'). The only reason I have not rated this DVD five stars is that the transfer could have been better (the episodes look like they do on TV) and the DVD contains no Extra Features.
