Good but not for home use
5 of 5 found this helpful The printer is, without question, good as are the multifunction features; also the print quality and versatility are excellent. However there are a few issues which a person should know before taking the plunge.
The printer was designed to use on a network so remember it is not ideal for home use.
i. The printer is big, tall and heavy. You will need either a strong desk to keep it on or you'll have to keep it tucked away, which will deprive you of all legroom if you have a standard desk.
2. The printer when starting up and while printing is loud. If this is a concern it would be worth using this on a print server away from the computer desk.
3. The printer offers a lot of versatility and therefore as expected it is quite complex in nature. However, to remedy this, HP have included detailed step by step procedures for just about all its functions.
4. This is just personal opinion, but I feel that the printer feels, well, "old and clunky" to a degree. However this is because I am comparing it to some of the newer printers from HP that I use. I feel that if you have a designer office then this is definately not the printer for you. It is immensly practical but ugly.
Now that the negative issues are out of the way, here are the main positives:
1. Print quality is excellent
2. It is a true Multifunction printer with fax
3. It can be used as a personal colour photocopier which justifies its size to an extent.
4. It has numerous card reader which will let you print images from your camera. It will printout thumbnails of your photos and you can select an image by circling it and scanning, which will print out the full sized image - it isn't a new trick but it may be useful in some instances)
5. It is very versatile in terms of what it can print to
6. The software from HP is somewhat bloated, however, the degree and manner of printer feedback and settings to tweak are impressive
There probably are other good and bad things that people may have to say, especially those who have used it for a while, however, these are what I feel are the main issues, after using it for a week.
Hope this helps.
