Good entry-level case
0 of 1 found this helpful There are not many ITX form factor only cases out there, this CiT case is the entry level.
Design
Overall, finish and quality are acceptable, parts join neatly. I like the black design, it's not fancy but minimal and slick.
Visual problem: the internal light-grey support frames are showing through the aeration grid (a set of holes in the side left panel, really (at the left when the case is vertical like on the pic attached) however in my picture you won't see the frames because I've tapped them with some black tape!.
Unfortunately no expansion slot in the back for PCIe cards.
Bizarrely the power-on LED is not connected to the motherboard as it usually is, but is instead supplied by a molex. Functionally, nobody would notice the difference however it takes up one of the 2 molex from the PSU!
Front Panel
Front audio is only Mic and Headphones plugs (no S/PDIF)
Two USB connectors although they're not USB 3.0.
Bizarrely there's one Firewire connector... rarely used nowadays, but it indicates that CiT re-used an old panel design.
PSU
The 300 W PSU looks cheap and flimsy, but it just works and its fan is also quite loud for such small PSU.
The PSU provides one 24-pins connector for the motherboard (20+4 pins actually), plus one separate 4-pins connector for the CPU (to be plugged on the motherboard).
Be careful because some (non-ITX) motherboards require two 4-pins CPU connectors, just double check that or you'd need to get another (different) PSU.
The size of the PSU is not standard, it's somewhat smaller than a standard size ATX PSU. It's not a SFX PSU either, it's an ATX, just smaller. Not sure how easy it is to find a spare when it dies.
There are 2 other cables from the PSU:
- a 4 pin molex and a SATA power,
- a 4 pin molex, a SATA power and a floppy connector.
Fan
I've removed the small internal fan provided with the case that sits right behind the front panel because it seems inefficient and a little loud (especially after some time, cheap fans tend to be noisy). The main reason is that it blows directly onto the RAM DIMMs which act like a wall and effectively blocks the airflow, but that entirely depends on your motherboard design.
DVD
There is not a proper 5.25" bay, but there's a place for a slim DVD drive, like the ones one can find in laptops, so standard full-size 5.25" desktop optical drives won't fit in this case.
Misc
It comes with enough screws, and even with a 4-pins beeper to fit on your motherboard although I couldn't use it since my mobo (Intel) can only use 2-pins buzzers.
No power cable.
The stand is strong enough to support vertically this small case.
No manual, I ended up with one small metal bit, I still have no clue where it can go! A manual would have helped.
All in all, no bad surprises, it delivers what I expected for the price.
