Rome -why only 2 series?

This is an excellent mini series of 2 sets. Totally engaging. I am sure that there are plenty of purists and academics who will puff out their chests and say that it is historically inaccurate tosh. That as maybe, but the historical figures are true, the parts are acted very well and the episodes dovetail into themselves very well. Sex, blood and gore, I am sure that the production company took the storyline to the edge. All in all its a great, great mini-series. Buy it, watch it and enjoy it. You will be left with only one question, why didn't HBO make series 3?
