Coming Home To an Empty House

If a fan of the Rosamunde Pilcher book Coming Home then you will find this movie interpretation not completely faithful to the source material. While the acting and characterisations are excellent, some characters have been deleted and many key, pivotal scenes that drove the book narrative are sadly not included. I understand that a film screenplay works differently to a book narrative but I was disappointed to so many lovely literary scenes not included. Mind you, if one is coming to this with no experience with the book then I'm sure they will find the film most enjoyable and well photographed.

The Sound of Movie Musical Magic

This dvd is classic. Wonderful to see excerpts from all the great Rodgers and Hammerstein film versions in one programme. The documentary is very well constructed with loads of detail including the comprehensive extras. The prints are crystal clear with great sound enhancement. Would have liked to have seen more on R+H's Cinderella but I'm thinking the rights are probably not under the Fox umbrella. I think too Flower Drum Song would have been a different movie with the Fox trademark luxurious production values.
