An endgame primer worth buying
There are many excellent chess books on the endgame currently on the market. In my opinion, this endgame text by Lev Alburt is one of the best for several reasons: a) it is affordable b) the concepts are presented with great clarity and with excellent examples c) the author does a great job to ensure the reader acquires the fundamentals with which to build a solid endgame technique for more advanced study. In short, this book offers great value for its cost.

The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Vol. 1
This is an affordable edition of Volume 1 of the complete writings of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It works as well as any other edition I've seen. Enjoy!

An excellent work of scholarship
This translation is clearly for the academically inclined reader. I've only read parts of the introductory chapters and a few of the expositions of the first few sutras. However, this is not the translation a reader should choose if he/she is not interested in pursuing all aspects of the Yoga Sutras, in all its dimensions, in-depth. There are other translations much better suited for readers who are less interested in the minutiae surrounding this hallowed text than they are the basic Sanskrit transliteration of the core yogic aphorisms that comprise Patanjali's masterpiece. This is a work of profound scholarship from a university professor who takes his research very seriously. If this is not your cup of tea, then do yourself a favor and try other less formal disquisitions.
