Awesome kit for the money!!
For 365 bucks this kit is well worth it's weight in gold. Also included is a Pearl Throne, Audio technica headphones, 3 sets, of drum sticks and 3.5 mm cables for your mp3 if you desire to hook up and play along with your own music.
This kit is also very durable with numerous improvements up from the old alesis express kit from a few years back. The rack attachments have been improved so as to not slip out of place under heavy drumming. Also the module has more options and appears to be more user-friendly. The kit includes snare, kickdrum and pedal, high hat and pedal, 1 crash, 1 ride, 2 toms and 1 floor tom. you also have the option of adding another crash and tom.
The sounds are excellent and very close to authentic acoustic sounds.
You won't find a better kit in my opinion and this beats the Roland tdk1 and the Yamaha hands down.

Sounds nothing like a Stingray IMH
1 of 1 found this helpful The Ray35 has a decent tone but if you're looking for that Stingray sound, you won't get it with the Ray 35 stock electronics. I seriously doubt that Ernie Ball is going to sign off on a bass that looks and sounds identical to a Stingray but for half the price. That would make absolutely no business sense. I believe that the electronics in the 35 covers about 70% of the real music man tone.
For the Ray 35 that I purchased, I replaced the stock pickguard with a custom pickguard from WD music. I replaced the electronics with the Seymour Duncan soap bar humbucker (Ceramic Magnets)and the Seymour Duncan 3 band Eq. The Seymour Duncan electronics replicate the Old school punchy music man sound perfectly.

Perfect replacement for the Marcus Miller jazz bass stock preamp
Pros:
This pre really brings the stock single coil jazz pups alive. I took the advice from Robert Sadowsky who said that you never replace both the pups and the pre. always do them one at a time so that you can pinpoint where your sound problems are more accurately. I had intended on getting "higher quality" jazz pups to match the bart pre. But "higher quality" is extremely subjective. I always that all preamps were the same. but that is truly not the case.
Cons:
I doubt that this pre will fit inside of conventional jazz cavity. It is not as easy to install as you're led to believe. you will require some soldering skills. and because there are so many wires and small electronic components involved. you will need a very steady hand to ensure that inadvertent damage is not done during the soldering process.
I highly recommend this pre for any marcus miller jazz bass upgrade specifically.
