It works on right out of the box
So far so good. Good antenna , have been making good contacts in several states. Make sure you put it up at least 1/2 wave above ground for better performance. The higher, the better of course.

Great little radio!
1 of 1 found this helpful So far so good - I think it's a slightly better radio than the 980SSB (the 980 is a good radio, IMO the McKinley is better). The built-in SWR meter is awesome, the RF gain adjustment is much more refined. It's a less noisy radio, the speaker is great. I also enjoy the channel up/down buttons on the mic (very handy).
