Excellent Value
2 of 2 found this helpful *Makes excellent coffee. *Low price.
Cons: *Somewhat loud at first (becomes happy, expectant sound). *Milk frothing tube should be longer.
The Bottom Line: Excellent machine at an awesome price. Delivers delicious espresso coffee quickly and can be used to froth milk for cappuccino on demand.

We purchased the EMCP50 about 2 months ago for $80 when our regular programmable 12-cup coffee maker was due for unclogging. We both love espresso lattes (such as Starbucks) but don't have time to stop every day, don't like the attitude or the price.
This machine makes awesome coffee and has more than paid for itself since it came into our lives. We can't even drink Starbucks lattes anymore (too weak). We read a review that this machine doesn't froth milk well. It froths milk fine but you absolutely need a stainless steel milk can, about 2 cups capacity-- don't do it in a regular coffee cup. Throw away the black rubber cover for the milk frothing tube--it smells bad (probably mold release agent) and doesn't work well. Skimmed milk froths faster than 2%, etc. Less fat, more froth.
While you're at it, throw away the "1 cup" coffee insert. We never use it. The "two cup" coffee insert is fabulous for 4 to 6 ounces of rich espresso covered with a thick layer of lovely crema. Mmmmmm. What a way to wake up in the morning, before your shower, while still wearing your PJs.
Note that we froth on the weekends when we have time. Mon-Fri, we make lattes from Mr. Coffee espresso and microwaved milk in a Pyrex measuring 2-cup jug. It's so good.
The best part? We are both starting our day with at least 8 ounces of skimmed milk. We used to just add a little to regular coffee that was ready when we woke up.
