Not a patch on Ian Mortimer's book and he does love the phrase "nucleated villages" as it appears at every available opportunity.

A new angle on the Wars of the Roses
This is a really interesting book (or I wouldn't be reading it). Having read the previous book in the series a few years back and really enjoyed it I decided to go the next in the series. It looks at the War of the Roses from the perspective of a middle-Eastern gentleman and his friends who have come to England on a quest and who are absolutely appalled by the behaviour of the English - their food, their dress, their hygiene, their sheer bloodymindness and the weather! It is funny, but also serious as it deals with the catastrophe of the Wars of the Roses.
