High Expectations not realized but it could just be me
In terms of the history of slavery 1826 was a strange date to choose to set the novel. It is implausible in terms of the heroine hiring a solicitor and barrister to defend her. In spite of the author being a solicitor I am doubtful about the legal process that forms the centre of the story but I can't be bothered to research it to check. I thought I would the book compelling but struggled to finish it.

17th Century Georgette Heyer Novel.
This seems to be an early Georgette Heyer as it is in the style of Jeffrey Farnol in terms of presentation, similar to the format of Simon the Coldheart. It was difficult to source this book which makes me think it may have only been published in the USA.

It is one of Georgette Heyer's Regency romances that features young people, and has more character development than some of her romances. A good run read.
