Sealey Hook Assortment for Composite Pegboard 30pc - S0766
09 Jul, 2023
Useful but could be improved
Plastic pegboard fittings are very useful in all kinds of workshops and I bought the fittings to go with my existing pegboards. The quality is fine and there was a variety of hooks and rings. Unfortunately for me the tabs on the back of the fittings were not compatible with the pegboard which had been purchased from a well-known supermarket, requiring me to buy new pegboards. The second disappointment was that there were lots of one fitting (a kind of double hook) which was useless for my needs and relatively few of the long hooks which I prefer to use. It may be that it's not cost-effective for Sealey to sell separate bags of each type of fitting, but it would certainly avoid the problem of having unusable items. That said, I can see that in other contexts the variety of hooks and rings supplied would be welcomed.

Pricey, but worth it
Thought long (a year) and hard about this because of its price, but knowing I didn't have the skills to keep my turning tools accurate and sharp, just using a grindstone, took the plunge. I shouldn't have agonised over it for so long, because now my tools are sharp, and repeatedly so. It's not cheap, especially when you start adding in the various jigs (which do make life easier). The unit is heavy (15kg) but is solid. For the price, I'd have thought that more than 2 belts could have been supplied, but they're not outrageously expensive (and cheaper ones can be obtained from elsewhere). Changing belts is pretty straightforward and the mechanism for setting the correct bevel angles takes out all the uncertainty over accuracy. It's worth taking the time to research prices as the difference between low and high can be as much as £60. Overall, very satisfied: the best investment I've made since buying the lathe and tools.
