Great upgrade option for older motherboards supporting Sandy Bridge processors.
THE processor in its day, 2011/12, still a great performer today (3.4/8Ghz 4 Core, 8 Threads) and some great low prices on ebay. Great for upgrading the processor in older computers with motherboards supporting the Sandy Bridge range of Intel processors using the LGA1155 socket.
I've been running a Dell XPS 8300 as my main desktop computer for the last five years, I was given it by my father who had bought it from new with a modest spec. I upgraded from an i3 to an i5 when I got the computer and also put in 8Gb of memory. Since then I have replaced the HDD with an SSD and finally put in the fastest processor this motherboard can take, the i7-2600K. I'm using a 27" Dell Ultrasharp monitor at 2560 x 1440 resolution which is on the limit of the original Geforce GT420 graphics card but runs really well for desktop work. I'm running Windows10 and performance is exceptionally good.
