Delightfully Irreverent Political Satire
With the incisive political commentary of "The Daily Show," this book examines America's birth as a nation and her current functioning as a democratic hegemon. "America" is formatted like a social studies textbook and is reminiscent of "School House Rock" only with a more cynical and irreverent tone. The content ranges from vaguely sarcastic to blatantly inappropriate, the humor fluctuating from intellectual to crude, but it will keep you smiling throughout. As you travel from America's hand in establishing democracy (America invented not only democracy but freedom, justice, and time-sharing), to the early years of our democracy, including the basis of policy in administrations such as Millard Fillmore's (Magical talking cats!), to the current state of our executive, legislative and judicial brancbes, asking what's under a Supreme Court justice's robe (Genitalia!), to finally taking a look at what the furture of democracy holds (Robots!), you will enjoy this satirical romp and maybe learn a thing or two. Maybe.

Excellent Memorization Trick!
This book is ultimately a cute gimmick for memorizing the presidents of the United States in sequence. By using a silly mnemonic illustrated story, this book can help you effectively memorize the presidents in order in about half an hour to recite back for an exam. The book starts off to the best of my memory with something like: On the lawn of the White House was a washing machine that could wash a ton of atoms, and they were being washed by the chef's son. So "wash a ton," "atoms," and "chef's son" help you remember the first three presidents are Washington, Adams, and Jefferson, and so on. It's quick and efficient, but this is the book's only real function. While reviewers on other sites have claimed to the contrary, this mnemonic hasn't stuck with me; this is strictly for quickly memorizing and repeating. A nice trick, but not a general reference.
