Turning damaged mandolins into usable teaching tools
My reason for buying these Mandolins is to improve my luthier skills. The mandolins were advertised as un-repairable. It should probably read beyond economic repair. Since I am using them as a learning tool, I have removed the backs on two mandolins to devise different repair techniques.
If you want to learn how to repair, this is an inexpensive way to learn. If you want to build a quality instrument from the parts, you will need expert experience.
Overall, a good buy for the intended purpose.

Very-Thin Jazz Guitar
3 of 3 found this helpful As the name implies, this is indeed a very thin guitar (1.25"). This however does not detract from the sound quality. The sound is very good across the entire guitar range. The thinness makes this guitar very fun to play and with an equally thin neck, the action is fast. Slides (like Hendrix's "Star Spangled Banner") are just awesome. To me, this is a great guitar at a most reasonable price. Lighter than a sold body. (6 lb.) Sounds good plugged in or unplugged but not as loud as a pure acoustic. This is a great late hour practice guitar when finger picking (Won't keep the neighbors awake or even my room-mate). This guitar was a good addition to my collection and gets a lot of use.
