Great for the budding naturalist
This magnifyer is very convenient to use. It fits snugly in your pocket and is easily carried thanks to its light weight. The cover keeps the glass clean and helps prevent scratching. Not sure how long it would cope with sustained and continued punishment but as a cheap and cheerful aid to getting the kids involved with natural history I've yet to find anything better - especially at the price.

Lightweight but very strongly made.
This is a surprisingly good bit of kit. So lightweight you could use it all day. Very sharp and just the right shape to get in all the nooks and crannies of any border. The very comfortable handle is just long enough to use it as a draw hoe and short enough to work from a kneeling position. I've been so impressed with it that I've just bought another one for my partner.

Strong and Sturdy
I've been wanting to test drive a stainless steel spade for ages and having previously bought a border spade to test the waters and been pleasantly surprised I thought I'd jump straight in at the deep end with this one. I've recently been digging in heavy clay containing a lot of tree roots and the stainless steel cuts through it like a knife through butter. You still have to clean the blade a lot as you go but nowhere near as much as you would with a conventional spade. The point makes it easier and quicker when you first cut into turf too.The pointed end is also very good at cutting through stoney soil like the chalk that I'm more used to which saves a lot of time and effort and the need to resort to a pick axe straight away. The shaft is sturdy enough and unlike it's main competitor (which I also looked at ), doesn't have any rivets sticking out, meaning it's smoother to use and not as painful on your'e hands if using without gloves on. All in all,a thoroughly impressive bit of kit and if used carefully and properly, should last a long time.
