Great game. Get the older versions for 1-5 players. Avoid new versions 1-4 players.

It is a limited resource game so it can be frustrating while at the same time fun. Of course you can change the rules a little to make things a little easier without making it too easy. We do this. There are online forums devoted to Agricola to check out.
Be careful what edition you get and aware of what is in the box. Older versions have cubes for the animals. Next version has 'animeeples' shaped like little animals. Both of those, by Z-man games are for 1-5 players. Since then there is a watered down version with weird game boards that is for 1-4 players. I would not purchase that one.
So, buy an old one. That is why they are more expensive. Avoid the new one, which you can purchase anywhere (see Amazon for example) and make sure that what you get is what you ordered. We purchased (on e-bay) one of these described as the old one and they sent the new one--good scam--so watch out.
