The Best Lens
I bought this lens for two reasons. First, I found my Nikon D40x compromised by the standard 18-55mm kit lens which although very flexible has inadequate apertures. The second reason was that in the days of film cameras I had always used a standard 50mm prime lens which I missed. By purchasing this great 35mm f/1.8 lens I am back to how things used to be. This is in terms of the greatly increased headroom it offers in low-light conditions, better focusing, the option of a really shallow depth-of-field at f/1.8, and finally a brighter viewfinder.
It is a great lens, optically very sharp, compact and very well made with metal bayonet fitting instead of a nasty plastic one, also doesn't move externally when focusing - very nice.
From my point of view it totally transforms the camera and I use it all the time in preference to the kit lens.

Expensive but very good.
I buy this in Germany normally at a fraction of the price (c. €2) but currently I have no alternative. Great product, use it all the time - the Brits don’t know anything about it.
