A greta loss to the world of art
Among the vast numbers of tragedies caused by any war, the death of Rex Whistler in WW2 is an artistic tragedy of the highest order. His technical skills as demonstrated in his extant murals and posthumously published works can only hint at what woukd have been achieved had he lived longer and developed his abilities. His brother's memoire tels us what he achieved with affection and great depth of insights, and clearly identifies the void Rex's death left in his own life and in the wider art world.
