An Essential Reference on Double Stars for Amateurs
The essential manual on the subject and ancillary topics. Measurements were formerly by filar micrometer and can now be accomplished with eyepiece reticles. However, the most accurate values currently are by charged-couple devices (CCD) and the how-to of these methods will not be found in this book.

Defense of Objective Justification
This is a defense of "Objective Justification," a doctrine introduced into Lutheranism by the former Calvinist, Samuel Huber, during his brief time (1592-1594) on the faculty of the University of Wittenberg (he was subsequently expelled from the faculty and exiled). His claim was that God the Father has justified (declared guiltless) the entire world as a result of Christ's Atonement by Crucifixion and Resurrection. This would be universalism, except that it is further believed that the justification cannot be made personal unless the individual trusts in Jesus Christ (subjective justification). A few verses of the New Testament are stretched to try to support this, as is the Book of Concord (which was finished more than ten years before this doctrine came out) - unconvincingly - but Huberianism survived the centuries in the folds of German Pietism, to emerge in founders of the Missouri Synod in the mid-1800's. It since has been defended with punishing determination by the Missourians and others of the old Synodical Conference (Wisconsin Synod, Church of the Lutheran Confession) (although many in the laity have never heard about the issue). Aegidus Hunnius's these against Huber and this odd idea are in print to this day, as are online refutations (Ask the Pastor and ELDoNA theologians).

Works like a charm and inexpensive
3 of 3 found this helpful This is an amazing inexpensive item, battery powered, plastic with a few metal parts, that actually works quite well! The aspect of it - besides the price - that attracted me was the option of either standard (long) point to the pencil or the shorter point, such as found in those little golf pencils. The latter is difficult to find.
