Backstage with the Moody Blues & Unreleased Songs
The DVD The Other Side of Red Rocks is an excellent companion to the DVD A Night at Red Rocks. It's a real treat to watch the band members prepare for the concert with the Colorado Symphony. I learned that conductor Larry Baird had to recreate all of the orchestra charts originally written by Peter Knight for The Days of Future Passed. For some reason, the charts disappeared within the 25 years since the original release. Interviews include Justin's daughter, Doremi, and John's son, Adam. Plenty of time with Ray, Graham, Justin and John -- including a rare moment of Justin laughing and joking! The real treat are the songs. A wonderful live version of Legend of a Mind (Timothy Leary) and Ray's voice/flute playing couldn't be better. I bought this the day Ray died after seeing the clip on YouTube. Also included is John performing his tribute song for his daughter, Emily's Song. Throw in Voices in the Sky, Bless the Wings and a solo acoustic version of Justin's Driftwood and you have a critical part of your collection. Unfortunately, this DVD was released only in the UK and is very, very hard to find. I wish they'd re-rel;ease it for the US and other markets. If you see it listed, buy it!
