Wrong Title for this Book
I was very disappointed in this book for several reasons: There are typographical errors in the book that should have been caught by the editor or author and the organization is haphazard-presenting comments by other authors that loosely (and sometimes abstractly) fit under Chapters as topics. The author quotes herself and after reading most of the book, I question the value of her wisdom. This one should be edited and proofed again with a better strategy for organization. And, ultimately, it should be retitled because the "ABC's of Writing" insinuates there is some order and logic in the presentation of material. It just isn't there. There are other books much better such as "Writer's First Aid" or Joan Aiken's "The Way to Write for Children" that put this book to shame.

Authoritative, easy-to-understand guidebook
The book is well-indexed and is easy to understand. It is great as a guidebook across the various seasons, which is specifically what I needed (when do I do what to make a GREAT garden). If this is what you need, this book is the best source that I have found to date from a searce of about 300 books.

101 Habits, 1001 Tips
This is one of the first books on writing that I have found that actually gives you some information that's clearly usable. I like that there are many opinions and discussion on the hows and whys of writing. Specifically, this books makes it clear to write the first draft to completion so you can START editing and doing research instead of stopping along the way to do it. A very clear, concise and to the point reference book.
