A 'Must Try' for women in their 40s
I used this eye cream through my 40s and early 50s with great effect and it was THE best cream on the market.
Not sure it's working as well in my mid-50s now that it has so much more to do, but I'd highly recommend it to women in the 40+ age range.

Replacement for old book that fell apart
There are some pieces of crucial information in this cookbook that don’t seem to exist anywhere else - it tells you what temperatures to use when a recipe only says ‘hot oven’ or ‘medium oven’. That’s really important particularly when using older recipes by authors like Elizabeth David.
Secondly, this cookbook offers suggestions and ideas for when a recipe goes wrong - also something you rarely see in modern cookbooks.
Finally her basic recipes lsich as the one for making a batter also come with information on how to take care of a pancake pan - information which is really useful if you invest in well-made frying pans that won’t warp or twist if you use too much heat.
Even though some of the recipes may seem dated the vast majority of them have stood the test of time - her Victoria sponge recipe even explains how to make bigger cakes in larger tins and how to work out the cooking times.
Overall a hugely useful book which I return to again and again, and which i honestly think is better than many more modern texts like Delia’s cookery course. .

A great read
For a first novel there is some predictability in the narrative structure and it was too easy to guess whodunnit, but this is a well-written rollicking read set amid the haunting salt marshes of Norfolk. I have high hopes that the later books will be more difficult to unpack. I’ve already ordered No2.
