Best system around, despite the operational and software niggles
I bought this product as backup device for all my files and this it does with much aplom. I like the fact that the docking station shows you how full the drive is and that the drive can be swapped for another drive! When you plug it in for the first time the software automatically installs itself allowing you to schedule backups etc. you will also have to download and install software updates. the software allows you to determine the drives idle running shut down time as well.
If you have a docking station you can make your own drive by buying your own SATA drive and case to go with it!
I have been using this item for a while now and i've come across a few annoying niggles which spoil the user experience.
The first of these niggles being that the docking station falsely indicates that the drive is full and that i can be a pain to get the docking station to correctly show how full the drive is! I've found the best way of doing this is to do a combination of unplugging the drive and rebooting my pc. On the odd occassion i've had to reinstall the software as well.
The of second of these niggles is that some of the software services included are subscription based and when installed are only available for a trial period. as most of the subscriptions are in US$, these will be additional currency conversion charges encurred!
Lastly, the product registration only allows you to register one serial number and this is a bit tricky as both the docking station and the drive itself have separate serial numbers.
All-in-all, seagate are to be congradulated for producing about the best, most comperhensive and felexible external drive system around!
My advice to those thinking of buying one of these is to be patient and shop around as they can be bought for a very reasonble price. It's just a shame that the retail price is so high in the first place!!

convert usb 3 to usb 2 adapter cable at a stroke
I have a minor couple of points to make on the downside and they are:-
1) in my sample there were only 8-pins in the USB 2 male header connecter, making it imperitive that one gets the orientation of the header connector correct to avoid damage!!
2) Windows 10 takes a dislike to using this cable, and flags any device as an 'unknown USB device' when one runs the win troubleshooting apps! But, it works fine if your aware of these issues!
3) Would have like this cable to come in different lengths

Samsung 22 Ultra Leather case
I would consider the use of this product essential because it stops the handset from slipping out of ones hand by providing extra tactile grip (the handset's polished case easily to falls out of ones hand).
The leather case fits like a glove!
