Poor design.

The previous MR's kettle I owned lasted about seven years until the on/off switch stopped working. Unfortunately, that (model (43676) is now obsolete. It was a better design than this one is, and was:
1) much more balanced in the hand.
2) a blue light would illuminate the water inside showing it boiling.
3) the water level window was clear to view and with the illumination showed the scale of water fill.
This model has the water level window obscured by the handle! The window is dark and the scale of fill is hard to see. The ridged 'Dune' patterning just makes it harder to wipe clean.
There must be better designs around than this? Avoid this one!

Bassy
Reception good - in Kent, don't need to raise the aerial. Used in the kitchen. It's tone is on the bassy side, so voices on Radio 4 can be slightly indistinct unless the volume is raised beyond background listening, but not a great problem. I suppose a more expensive model would've had a tone control so you could switch between music and voice listening.

Well...it got here!
Arrived in a bubble-pack and metal foil envelope - secure, but hardly green! Inside, the sheets were loose with only the remains of some cellophane packaging - some creased sheets. No paper wrapping included to hold sheets together. Sheets, much as I expected. Prints ok.
