Unusual subject, nicely handled.
I've read some of Wishart's other works, and previously enjoyed his writing and clear knowledge of the period and culture in which he has immersed his characters. This work is, perhaps, more subdued/less racy than some of his others (particularly when compared to the "detective" ones); being the "autobiography" of the poet Virgil (as you'd expect from the title) - an individual whose works I'd read at school, but about whose life I knew practically nothing.
As always with this author, the sense of ancient Rome - and the relatively small social circles where power is brokered - at a particular time feels sound.
It was well worth the candle, not least because, as all good historical fiction should, it left me wanting to go and investigate further myself.

Useful set of figures...
Useful set of light horse, suitably generic enough for conversion to a range of periods/nationalities where middle-Eastern/West Asian/Steppe style horse archers are part of the military mix of for fantasy cavalry. Usual HaT high standard of detail and natural proportions.

Nice set.
Very nice set. Good poses. Minimal flash. BIG figures for 1/72 though....
