Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy rides again...
This contains some of DAC's greatest songs(Longhaired Redneck,Livin' on the Run,Willie,Waylon, and me)This is one of the stellar albums in Coe's career, but every record to me is gold at least up until "Divers Do It Deeper".The weakest track, although, pretty funny is "Dakota, the Dancin' Bear,Part 2",Dac's response to Kris Kristoferson's song of the same name.Coe's version is about a dancin' bear who also happens to be trippin' on ACID.You'll Laugh.DAC was in his prime and his songwriting was unmatched in Nashville or Austin(although Townes and Mickey were right up there ,too...)and unfortunately he did not get as much credit as some of the more popular country singers of the era,who were far less talented. For the True DAC fan this release is a MUST-HAVE.It's so good i've even learned most of the songs off the album...buy it....

mysterious rhinestone cowboy:the early years
This is the earliest commercially released glimpse into David Allan Coe's honky tonk side, not evidenced on his first two releases,Penitentiary Blues(a blues album that owes a lot to Screamin' Jay Hawkins)and Requiem for a Harlequin(the painfully rare 1st LP with a strong Mickey Newbury influence that criss-crosses genres before it was cool). These are songwriting demo's made when he was an in-house songwriter for Steel Guitar great Pete Drake, but these are all top notch and a must for any true DAC fan.there is even a song recorded in DAC's living room with his son Tyler,on guitar...Also includes a dvd filmed circa 1969/1970 when he was on Shelby Singleton's label. This is definitely essential in my opinion and maybe it help give a little bit more exposure to one country's most criminally overlooked songwriters.

rare DAC on compact disc
for true fans of DAC or even a fan who is only familiar w/ the hits, this is a great collection and a welcome edition to his catalogue. Most of these songs originally appear on the TEXAS MOON LP,which has never been released on cd.the vinyl goes for about $60 bucks.now, let's get to the music:Many of coe's least known, but finest tunes(Mary Magdalene,etc...) and great covers("Why me Lord?",the Kristofferson hit)appear on this release...if yr a hardcore fan or a fan of the big hits, this collection is a rare glimpse into yet another chapter,in the career of one of the most underrated songwriters around.
