Kept me interested and entertained.
I bought this book to read while on holiday but started it before doing so. In the end I only had half a dozen pages still to read when we went on holiday!
I like these crime novels where detectives have to detect and so you are taken through the process rather than having crimes resolved by sudden hunches. As you gather, this was done compellingly and with a nice twist at the end - as with most good crime stories.

Full of information if the dates incorporated are what you want.
I bought this without researching it sufficiently - my fault for making assumptions. Information therein seemed interesting in theory but didn't suit my needs in practice. If it does suit your own needs, there is a lot therein, hence my "good value" comment. I required information post-1963 of which there was little.

Include this title amongst your "rations".
2 of 2 found this helpful According to a list that I have, there are about 65 titles in the BLCC series and I've now read over 50 of them. This is one of the better ones as it moves along at a good pace and the plot holds together well with a good twist at the end. The reader must, however, accept that a journalist would be given so much carte blanche by the police. Set in 1950, the story has the side-stepping of rationing as its theme; now that was REAL austerity.
