Until recently I didn't know that translation of the Anglo-Saxon chronicles existed at least to the level of detail and the scope and range from the time of Julius Caesar and the Roman Occupation through to the coronation of Henry II and the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII and Oliver Cromwell. There is a wealth of detail and factual content in the chronicles that is valuable in understanding the evolution of England and the United Kingdom.
