Stargate SG-1 didn't end with season 8, it just got better with 9!
Although many people felt that Stargate SG-1 finished with the conclusion of season 8, what many people tend to forget is the beginning of a new chapter in Stargate lore with season 9. Out are some of the favorites(Don Davis, Richard Dean Anderson) but along comes Beau Bridges, and Farscape alums, Claudia Black and Ben Browder. Season 9 introduces us to a whole new level of bad guy and leaves behind the Egyptian history tie-ins in brings in the myth of King Arthur and Merlin, along with the complete story(so we think) of the Ancients. The story telling for the final two seasons(9 & 10) is at an all-time high and the chance for the old characters to break out of their shells and be more than what they were the first 8 seasons is a welcomed breath of fresh air. The bad guys are the Ori and they bring with them the power of the ancients. Coupled with the addition of the last great Gau'ould system lord Bal, Sg-1 is put up against near insurmountable odds from day one all the way to the final episode in season 10 and into the two made for DVD movies in "The Ark of Truth" and "Continuum". Die-hard fans may balk when talking about the final two seasons of Stargate SG-1, but I for one, now given the opportunity to watch each episode again from start to finish can surely say that without those seasons, I wouldn't be complete. For a taste of the old and a sweet addition of new, I recommend watching both season's 9 and 10 of Stargate SG-1.
