a classic

I saw this when it came out. A great story about riding the rails during the depression. Excellent performances by Marvin, Borgnine and newcomer, Carradine. Could have been a longer tale, but great nevertheless.

The best western ever. . . next to Lonesome Dove

I cannot say enough about this film. the story, the acting, the setting, and the photography are all superb. Robert Duvall and Tom Church are masters. The ladies and secondary roles were equally stupendous. We need more westerns like this one.
