A HARD LOOK AT A HARD SUBJECT.

This is a harrowing tale of failure of not only the educational system, but the evaluation and treatment offered to those suffering from mental health issues. The author bucks the conventional trends of blaming the availability of inanimate objects or simply dismissing the perpetrators as twisted. He shows through brutal personal experience how anyone's view of existence, particularly that of a child, can become an unremitting nightmare. The author does more than recount his early life, he provides insight into ways to change not just the way cases like his are determined but also more precise terminology to define the nature of the problems. This is a book that should be mandatory reading, including tests to confirm they did so, for everyone within not only the educational system, but also those involved with the care of vulnerable people of all ages. As someone with family members who have mental health issues, I cannot recommend this highly enough.
