E3 - every Olympus system user should have one!
As a long term Olympus DSLR user I had aspired to own an E3 since it was first announced. When I had the good fortune to be able to upgrade my equipment I spent many hours studying the merits of other camera systems because the E3 is now somewhat/considerably 'behind' the leading edge of features and specifications for higher end DSLRs. Bottom line was that I have been, and still am, so pleased with Olympus lenses that I didn't want to break away from Olympus as my 'system' just to access 'whizzy' camera features from other manufacturers. So, now I have an E3. Having grown through the ranks of the less well specified Olympus DSLR models it came as some shock to have to really think harder about what I wanted the camera to do! Have to say it is worth it! Once I got the hang of accessing the features it became a very sophisticated instrument and it has reawakened the 'technical' photographer in me. I must say that a feature article about using the E3 in Amatuer Photographer (30th August 2008) was a significant factor in my decision making before choosing to get the E3. The article has also actively encouraged me to push my own photographic skill boundaries since the E3 arrived - compliments to AP!! I am very satisfied with my E3. It is solid and very capable. Maybe if/when Olympus produce a successor I will upgrade - only maybe! Anyone who has an investment in Olympus DSLR equipment should continue to aspire to an E3 - until they get one!!

Olympus telephoto zoom - flies and flys!
6 of 6 found this helpful I had previously owned the Olympus 50-200mm non SWD lens for a few years and was very pleased with it. As I was able to upgrade my Olympus DSLRs to an E30 and an E3, this lens seemed a sensible investment, and it is proving to be. It is definitely 'slicker' when trying to find focus and it is disconcertingly quiet. I'm finding there is much less 'hunting' and, although I can't prove it I'm convinced it is quicker. I know this lens can only be of interest to 4/3 users but it is a huge justification for choosing 4/3 as a system. Long live Olympus DSLRs - I really hope!!
