The Jazz Theory Book is what I was looking for.
The book was in great condition to start with. I have only started reading it, but I do see this helping me with my flute playing, improvization and in depth understanding of music theory and Jazz.
My flute teacher recommended it to me, only to find that a friend of a friend uses it extensively. He plays guitar and bass.
