Why can't other devices be as simple?
For the last 23 years I've been a die-hard windows/linux snob. Tired of being clueless about Macintosh (That's what Apples were called back in the day kiddos!) prompted me to finally take the plunge and get an iMac.
There's a "thing" with Apple products. You get one, you soon want the rest of the desk to match the sleek aluminium temptresses. So in searching for peripherals, I chanced by this little remote by pure luck.
"Why would I want it?" I initially asked. I mean, My magic keyboard has all of the things the remote has on the Function Keys. But then I got to thinking, I use the iMac for playing music, and if I'm at my other desk, it'd be easier to use the remote than get up and walk over, and press a key on my keyboard. I also use it for playing films.
So I bought it.
Have to make this clear: It works right out of the box.
The remote is small, the length shorter than my phone. directional keys, centre button, menu button and a pause/play.
After trying it out, and getting over my shock at not having to pair or program it... I was somewhat impressed.
Turns out, the remote works for pretty much any media app you have open at the time, so they keys could do different things.
It will work for any Apple device that has an Infrared sensor on it. tv, MacBook, iMac... The list goes on.
For such a cheap device, it's certainly seen it's use so far.
...why can't other brands be so simple?
