Just one big flaw
Fairly straightforward to set up, and works surprisingly well on my aircon and home theatre.
However, there are two things that knock off a couple of stars. First is that a service has to be running to connect to the device, and that must be on (in my case) an Android phone and running all the time. If I'm not home it doesn't work, and timed commands are useless. I got around this by installing Android on a VM on a server I have running at home and that does the job nicely.
The other problem is when learning IR commands there is only five seconds to get from your phone to pick up the remote you are trying to learn, point it at the top of the Black Bean and press the right buttons. When you get there in time it works well, but with the Black Bean installed up high it can be quite difficult and very annoying. It really needs two people.

Reasonable but your mileage may vary
I bought two of these. One was much better than the other.
The better one gave me 5v right up to 2A, though at 2A the ripple was about 400mV peak-peak.
The poor one had 200mV of ripple with no load and would only supply about 1 amp before the ripple became so bad it was hard to measure the voltage.
With extra filtering these power supplies are working quite well and they are ok for me because I only need about 0.6 amp max. So given the low price I'm still happy with them.
I don't know why these power supplies are described as low-ripple because for general electronics use they are not. As, for example, a USB charger for a phone they would be just fine.

Good product but came with zero documentation
1 of 1 found this helpful Looks good and works well once installed. It's a nice fit but I needed to do a lot of googling to find out how to install it and what to do and what not to do.
There was zero documentation with the product and I discovered some hours into the install that it's a standard Toyota part and Toyota themselves had a good instructional PDF. Once I had that, the going was easy apart from the fact that you had to take the armrest apart to get the last two screws in.
Just a slip of paper in the box with just a web address would have made a big difference.
