Guns for San Sebastian new master on bluray
Get this under rated Spaghetti Western (of French, Mexican and Italian origin) The older DVD was okay but lacked the DTS Master soundtrack and the new scanned elements have transformed this very well made film into a must buy. The picture is more vibrant and and the soundtrack is so much clearer with dialogue and effects. Parts of the film that were quite dull have been sharpened and reveal more detail without added graininess. Ennio Morricone's score just sounds the best it can get from a mono 35mm film. The film was made just before Once Upon a Time in the West and can be classed as a rehearsal for the later film with the female vocals and grander orchestration. Add great acting, cinematography and script, you wonder why this film has been so overlooked all these years.

Piombo misses the target
I don’t normally leave reviews because eBay hardly ever publish them. This is my last time if it never appears because l am so negative about the double LP. The so called ‘Lead Years’ of Italian crime films has in my opinion sunk like a lead balloon to this collector. I am familiar with the Italian soundtrack scene but this release is a two out of ten at best sampler. Third rate examples that are so much identical it sounds like the same composer was responsible for the whole album. I even had to check the titles were all original soundtracks as they all sounded like clones of each other orchestrated for an orchestra doing cover versions. This release is so boring it’s going back on sale as a used copy for a knock down price…..it will never find its way back onto my turntable again. One good mark is the record pressing is excellent but unless you really know what’s on offer here give it a miss!

Khartoum 45rpm double LP extended soundtrack.
Great packaged double 45rpm LP edition. Features full size UK Quad Poster reproduction and a replica cardboard cover CD. The odd thing was this remastered soundtrack only being issued in MONO when a stereo version was issued by Film Score Monthly on CD. Back in the 60’s the original LP was always available in mono or stereo worldwide. A fact that may explain why so many sealed copies are still available worldwide. Lovely original artwork and thick cardboard fold out sleeve make this a nicely presented release with the added quality with the 45rpm format albeit in mono.
