Lightweight with great features.
1 of 1 found this helpful This folding saw was recommended by several people online so I thought I'd give it a try, they said the black coating was a low friction coating so the first few cuts wouldn't be too great until the coating wears off the teeth, but then it would be like a hot knife through butter. My first test was on a length of 2 inch by 1 inch beech, which is a very hard wood, and it flew through. I'm looking forward to seeing how it deals with normal use on softer woods after the low friction coating wears off the teeth.
Another good feature about the Bahco 396 Laplander is the way the blade locks closed as well as locking open, a good safety feature for those with small kids. After using this saw a few times, I wouldn't even consider any other folding saw, there is a reason this version is issued to NATO, which in its self is a good indication of quality.
It fits in a pocket nicely, has a comfortable soft grip handle and it's also light weight. As far as downsides, I'm struggling to find anything at all, maybe (and this is just a personal preference) but maybe the blade could be a little bit thicker, it's only about a milimetre thick but highly unlikely to jam and bend on the forward stroke.
All in all, an excellent tool for anyone from gardeners to outdoor survival experts, highly recommended.
