Only lasted for one pressing
For double the price compared to other presses I thought I bought a quality press. The company Kilner seems to have survived since 1842. But I dont think its because of this press. The base plate was so weak (2,5mm) that it bent like a V after one pressing. The provided Kilner bag also broke after the first pressing.
It seems like I'm some idiot who clearly must have abused the press. But if I follow the instructions, chopping the apples into small pieces, evening them out, only using my arm strenght while pressing. Then I dont see how it could be in any other way than that the press is bad designed. Using the torque that can be achieved from the hand screw shouldn't break the base plate. Then either the base plate is too weak or the lever is to big.
The welds holding the cast beam cracked, as a consequence to the base plate being tilted 20 degrees. Which means the barrel is tilting the same angle, the pressing plate presses the apples unevenly. The juice gets collected on the rear end since the plate i shaped like a V.
I am now in touch with the company who so far are very helpful. But If you want to buy a press that ..."will provide you with many years of use."... You really should find another press with a sturdy base plate. My next purchase will be the Vigo press, the base seems to be a solid cast base, smarter cross beam solution and compared to the Kilner you can press lower amounts if you want to, the Kilner only presses 9-10 kg as lowest amount while the Vigo allows you to add extra wooden distances and press for example 1 kg or 10 kg depending on what you want.
For now I need to sort out the return of this press and I wouldn't recommend anyone buying this,

Kamasa - thought it was better quality
The textile case was really good. A lot better than a plastic one.
But the "Kamasa" brand is only added to the spanners by laser, which seems like a cheap branding set up. I thought It was like the old style forged branding.
The tolerance of the spanner gap is a bit to big, I bought this as my second set next to my Stanley spanner set. If I have to tighten a nut hard, then I have to use my Stanley spanner or it will deform the nut, making it round..
But it works for use where I dont really care that much, the bicycle etc. but not the car.
I guess this applies to all Kamasa spanners and not just this set?
