As expensive as it is capable, it's a value for those that need it.
The RTX 3090 in general is a bit overkill for 4k gaming and a lot of mundane multimedia consumption and production. It is however currently the king of the hill in terms of what consumer level cards are capable of handling. If you do have a heavy graphics / rendering workloads or lofty graphics goals in gaming it will get you there. If you're not aiming to edit / render complex projects, or game at 4k144, 8k60, etc, then just relax and find a 3070 or 3080 instead.
For my uses editing video it cut render times on projects by as much as 80% coming from a GTX 1080ti, and plays every game I have on ultra at 4k 120 without any hiccups. Actually smaller than the GTX 1080ti it replaced, and ran off the same dual 8 pin plugs. As expensive as it is capable, it's a value for those that need it.
