kidnapped, michael caine
1 of 1 found this helpful i love this film, it was my introduction to robert louis stevenson, the greatest scottish writer, yes miles better than sir walter scott or burns! on the face of it odd casting for alan breck in michael caine, but caine pulls it off because of his sheer presense & charisma. the scene near the end where he looks out across the glens remembereing the words of others with a tear in his eye, well if that doesn't bring a tear to your eyes, nothing will! great character actors like donald pleasance & my favourite: freddie jones as fellow rebel cluny: "ah but i like to play at the cards!", that & beautiful cinematography & music make it great. alright so they rewrote stevenson & there's a different ending, but you can forgive all this, and in a way that braveheart stirred scots, this would have me out fighting thge english tomorrow!!!
