Pretty Good But Not Professional Grade
1 of 1 found this helpful I'm a gadget freak, so this naturally caught my eye, especially since I'm a working musician. I found a factory refurb Roadie 2 here on eBay for $99 so I ordered it. I was able to use it right out of the box and it's not extremely difficult to get it operating on a 6 string guitar. My main goal with this thing is to use it on my S10 steel guitar but haven't looked into the instructions on how to set that up yet.
I tried it first on a Telecaster. It tells you on its screen to start with the E2 string (Low E) and I placed it on the E2 tuner key and plucked the string to give it some signal to work on. The motor unwound the string about a half step down because I have the option set to always tune going up, then it tuned up close to E then made a couple of fine adjustments to get it very close. When it feels it's smack on E the LED turns green and gives off a vibration to let you know to move on to the next string. Only problem I had was that the tuning was "pretty close", but not exact when compared to my strobe. This will probably be a good thing to use when restringing a guitar, but the inexpensive Snarks are faster and probably more accurate for "on the job" tuning.
