Perfect camera for the budding enthusiast who can't break the bank on a 5D
I'd give this camera 4.5 stars to be honest - overall, I think it's a great piece of kit, and perfect for a keen enthusiast such as myself. With 18M effective megapixels, it provides excellent images that are more than suitable to be blown up for posters or canvases. Although the body is plastic, i'm lead to believe it's the same plastic used in the Airbus A380 - so it may not have the same feel to it as the 7D and 5D's have, but it's still sturdily built. I find it a more comfortable size and weight than my previous, smaller EOS body, and the control wheel is a pleasant addition. I'm also a big fan of the LCD screen on the top of the body - it's great having quick access to all of the variables involved, such as metering, shutter speed, drive mode etc. Although I don't really use the video mode all that often, it's generally excellent - and the flip-out, vari-angle 3" LCD screen comes into its own when trying to get the perfect angle. Some people regard that to be a bit of a gimmick, but it really can come in handy. The 60D offers 5.3 fps - pretty respectable, and i've managed to get a burst of circa 20 images shooting in RAW, but apparently in JPEG mode you are looking at well over 150 - although this is obviously dependant on your memory card as well. With my Canon 50mm f/1.4 on, the autofocus is remarkably quick and accurate, even in low light conditions. The 60D also provides in-camera editing (including RAW) although to be honest, I can't see me using that too much. I'd happily recommend the 60D to any photography enthusiast - it is in the upper end of Canons middle range cameras, but is a fraction of the cost of a 5D mkIII, yet still offering excellent image quality and features.

Excellent lens, and a bit of a step up from the 50mm f/1.8!
Speaking as someone who has been using the Canon 50mm f/1.8 for around 18 months or so, the 50mm f/1.4 is a noticeable step up in terms of overall quality. Build quality is far superior, as the lens feels sturdier, although with its compact size it still remains lightweight (290g v 130g). The wider aperture offers a razor sharp depth of field, and the bokeh is without doubt more attractive on the f/1.4 lens. Although i'm still in my early days of use, image quality seems to be excellent. A bit of a jump in price from the 1.8, although if you have money to spend then i'd definitely recommend the 1.4 - I can't see this one coming off my camera very often. I can only imagine how awesome the Canon 50mm f/1.2 L must be, at over £1,000!

    Great Tent
Fantastic tent - incredibly sturdy due to the geodesic frame, and it’s not let a drop of water through so far. Really spacious, good head night and the double entry with vestibules is super handy. Good ventilation too, which is really important. It took me far longer than it should have to put it together the first time, but I’m willing to accept that is mainly due to me being a moron. The only downside is that the trade off for all of the positives I have just mentioned is that it’s not a light tent - it’s perfect for pretty much everything other than backpacking, where saving weight is king. If you’re going to be pitching up at a site, or wild camping a short walk from your car then I can not recommend this tent highly enough.
