Portable Graphics machine with upgrade potential
With a 15.5" screen this is a big laptop, but it also has a lot of power. So think of it more as a portable desktop PC. Intel are the kings for processors to use for straight Maths and spreadsheets but the AMD A10 processor not only comes a close second to the i7 for number crunching but excels at graphics where it's in built CPU graphics combine with the AMD graphics card to give maximum performance for design, photo manipulation and graphic intensive games.
So this beast is fast, but is let down by its battery which does all these at a cost, lasting little more than 2 hours of intensive use (ie real use by me - not a computer simulation). But you can get a higher capacity battery from e-bay and although this is larger it gives quite a nice typing angle by raising the back of the laptop and is giving me around 5 hours battery power.
The SSHD can boost performance but seems erratic and sometimes the disc access is still pretty poor and slows down an otherwise super fast PC. But it is a 1TB unit so ideal for storage of large graphics or video files and any large game installs. Swap to a true SSD (as I have) and this is blisteringly fast and superb at handling anything I have thrown at it.
So this is a big laptop, ideal for graphics and gaming and readily updatable to give the fastest performance possible.
