A True Classic!
2 of 3 found this helpful This is the show everybody talks about. This is the cast everyone talks about. These are the characters everyone talks about.
Was everything good? No. Was everything funny? Certainly not. But that's ok. With this first season, you get to see the evolution of the show that is still running today. You'll see everything from the hilarious (Word Association), the classic (samurai), to the misfires (Muppets talking about marital aides).
Lorne Michaels tinkiers with the formula until something clicks. Early shows feature multiple musical guests. The second show is pretty much all music with a few commercial parodies thrown in.
For all the warts that the show has, it still holds up pretty well. Even if some of the material is a bit dated (Squeaky Fromme and 10 cent stamps).
If that's not enough, there's even an episode that was pulled from syndication by Lorne Michaels (Louise Lasser hosting). I remember this one from when the "Best of" program would run on various UHF stations in the early 80's. But I have not seen it since.
This is a no brainer to pick up if you love watching the show or are a fan of the original cast. Keep these season sets coming!!

Kids In The Hall as it was meant to be seen!!!
This was a great season of Kids In The Hall. Many favorites are in this season such as "Chicken Lady", "Sizzler Sisters", "Bobby And The Devil", and "Simon and Hecubus". This season started "It's A Fact" and "Touch Paul Bellini" among many others.
This show would best be described as a mix of Saturday Night Live and Monty Python with a sense of Canadian humor. I've always loved this show. From the time it would air on HBO many years ago to CBS and Comedy Central reruns. I'm very happy to see this series uncut and uncensored for the first time in a long time.
There is a small amount of swearing and if I remember correctly very brief nudity which was definitely cut out of repeats. But nothing that didn't further the sketch along.
I'm very happy to see Kids In The Hall get the treatment that it richly deserves. Now if Lorne Michaels (the producer of Kids In The Hall) can see to it that Saturday Night Live complete season sets keep coming out, that would make me extremely happy.
