PEC double square is good value, nothing wrong with "seconds".

I have owned this model of PEC square for many years. Needed another one. Quality is unchanged with this new one, and even though it is listed as "second", I find nothing really obvious. Good value for the price, made in USA.

The older Starrett speak for themselves.

A fine older Starrett tool. In excellent condition. Already in use in my machine shop on AGD style dial indicators. Enables using a long-travel dial indicator for setup work with holes, as well as giving a good long reach.
