Over achiever.
Just took delivery of 3 more 1000 Battles.
I like the weight to power ratio these reels offer. In my area the Reds, Sea Trout and Flounder are our target species. I seldom hook into a fish that even approach this reels potential. It allows me to get the fish to the boat quickly, and allow me to release the fish in good shape. The drag is smooth and allows me to use sub 10 lb line with very rare break offs.
I have to say that there is a break in period for the reels, but after a weeks worth of casting and retrieving it settles in nicely. Full metal body and gears eliminates torque twist and keeps it's integrity time after time. The weight is good, but not the lightest, but at this price point IMO it is a solid buy. I guide 250+ days a year. I have heard from my customers that they have bought Penn Battles after fishing mine. The only reason I gave this reel 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have fished better reels this size, but they were a very expensive...
