A classic, the sequel and two other films
The Magnificent Seven (1960) is one of the classic Western films from when I was a child. It was the first Western I saw in a cinema, on a short re-release around 1972. It was great to see again, in remastered detail and colour. The first sequel, The Return of the Magnificent Seven, with only Yul Brynner reprising his lead role, is an acceptable follow-up, with a connected storyline, but not quite as good as the original.
The other two films in this set, are also sequels to the original, Guns of the Magnificent Seven and The Magnificent Seven Ride! Unfortunately, they are nothing like the quality of either of the first two films. As a fan of the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone, which owe a lot to the original Magnificent Seven film in terms of style, I would say the last two sequels in this set are more like the many low budget imitations of Sergio Leone's films.
Overall, despite the slight disappointment of the 3rd and 4th films, the box set of all four is worth having if you are true fan of The Magnificent Seven. Not only do you get a really good modern copy of the first film, but you can also enjoy the second film, and then realise how well made the first two are compared to the later imitations.

Nostalgic gold!
Remember watching this series when it was first shown in the UK around 1980(?). This set includes the 2 part pilot episode which I don't remember at all. One episode also features a clip showing a 'memory' of Mork visiting The Fonz in a Happy Days episode, which was an interesting reminder of how this show started out.
Great to see the raw early talent of Robin Williams and hear the Na-Nu Na-Nu greeting and shazbot (Ork swearing). Most of the jokes still work and it was great fun to watch again. As others have commented the style of the show appears dated compared to modern TV, but that is part of the joy of watching a 40 year old show like this - it reminds you how much has changed.
Will be looking to find series 2 and 3, and maybe series 4, but that may only be available for Region 1 (USA).

Shada - completed at last!
A great reissue of the original 4th Doctor story, with the previously incomplete sections filled with modern animated graphics, with fresh voice recordings from the original cast. As a fan of the series since the 2nd Doctor, I was excited to discover this new version of Shada had been released. The DVD set includes two discs, which not only give you the complete Shada story, in fully restored detail, but also many extras, including commentaries and behind the scenes raw footage from the original studio shooting. By modern standards the script and filming is a little slow and clunky and the special effects appear primitive, but it was great to see Tom Baker and Lalla Ward again, as The Doctor and Romana. Other actors were well cast and the story has all the usual twists and turns and impossible situations which The Doctor always overcomes. A great nostalgic treat as well as an interesting insight into Doctor Who and TV drama from the 1970s.
