Intel Quad core
1 of 1 found this helpful As most people may or may not know, when you buy your shiny new computer, it's the best thing you've ever used. Then about three years down the line it begins to slow down and takes an age to do anything.
I had reached that three year point and decided i needed a new cpu to give my pc that little bit more ummph, i didn't want to replace the whole system just as few parts as possible.
I new most of the system was still pretty up to date, apart from the cpu and a bit more memory.
After checking out my mother board on the web and discovering it had a 775 slot fot the cpu, i went about researching the best cpu there was for that slot. Then i compared cpu's just below the best one for price and performance, the Q9550 2.83GHz gave good performance for the very reasonable price, the reviews were good, they are a solid performer and since the intorduction of the Intel I series pc's there a some bargins cpu's to be had as the gaming community update to the latest technology and sell their current systems.
The cpu is very straight forward to fit, quiet and efficient and performs exactly as reviews suggested, it's been in my system for a few months now and hasn't missed a beat, more than happy with it and it has given me the extra power i needed to return my machine to it's former speeds.
